The Ukulele is a great instrument for musicians of all ages. One advanced chord that is played on the ukulele is the Bbmaj7 chord. The Bbmaj7 also known as the B flat major 7th chord is most commonly played in the key of Bb. When playing in the key of Bb, the Bbmaj7 chord will usually follow the Bb chord.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Hold the center of the ukulele body with the right arm by placing it over the front and holding underneath with the right hand. Rest the ukulele neck in the left hand between the left thumb and left index finger near the string spacer. Keep the left thumb directly behind the first bar on the ukulele neck.

  2. Step 2

Move the left index finger to the first bar located between the string spacer and the first fret. With the tip of the left index finger, hold down the "E" string which is second from the top.

  3. Step 3

Place the left middle finger on the "C" string located on the second bar between the first and second fret.

  4. Step 4

Tips & Warnings
  • The Ukulele strings on the soprano, concert and tenor are assigned G, C, E, and A from top to bottom.
  • The string spacer is used to separate the strings as they run from the tuners to the neck of the ukulele.
  • A “bar” is the space that is located between the frets.
  • Frets are metal strips that are used to separate the bars on the neck of the ukulele.
  • Keeping the fingers on the bar and away from the frets or any unassigned strings will help to produce a clear sound of the Bbmaj7 chord.
