How to Find Bargain Shopping in Summit County, Colorado

For the most part, Summit County, Colorado is associated with skiing and snowboarding. However, if your spouse or significant other has no interest in winter sports, you need not leave them behind. Summit County has some of the best bargain shopping in Colorado. Even better, the free Summit Stage Bus goes to all of these shopping locations. Aside from the popular Silverthorne Outlets, Summit County has a number of thrift and consignment shops. These are excellent places for great bargains. Many of the items were once owned by formerly wealthy but now poverty stricken ski bums. They need the money; you need the stuff. It's a win/win scenario.

      Make your travel arrangements. If you're on a tight budget, select lodging in Silverthorne, Dillon or Frisco. This will also place you in close proximity to the best budget shopping venues.

      Pick up a copy of the Summit Stage bus schedule. The free bus will stop near all of the shopping venues.

      See the list of stores at the Silverthorne Outlets (see Resources). The website will also have a map of the different store locations, as well as the opening and closing times.

      Take the Silverthorne bus to Silverthorne Station, where you'll find the Silverthorne Outlets. Some of the stores are within walking distance of the bus stop. However, in bad weather, you can transfer to the Silverthorne Bus, which has stops near the different stores. The Outlets also have their own free shuttle, which will take you to the different shops. They will even take you back to the bus station. On a nice day, consider walking. There are bridges and tunnels that cross the highway, so you don't need to worry about safety issues.

      Take the Keystone Bus to La Bonte Street in Dillon and visit Affordable Music. Located at 104 Village Place, it's a great place to find old CDs, even vinyl. Then, check out Summit Thrift and Treasures, located at 340 Fielder Avenue in Dillon.

      Take the Frisco Bus to the Walmart stop in Frisco. Walk north on Summit Boulevard until you come to Recycle Ski and Sports. Here, you'll find used skis and snowboards as well as a great variety of retro ski jackets, pants and one piece ski suits at dirt cheap prices.

      Take the Frisco Bus to 6th and Main. Walk towards the Conoco Station. The Funky Trunk is right next store. It features designer clothes at dirt cheap prices. Across the street, you'll find another great consignment shop called Rags to Riches. Need furniture? Walk towards the post office and visit Alpine Accents. This furniture consignment shops sells beautiful items at affordable prices. You can arrange to have larger pieces shipped home.

      Take the Breckenridge bus to Breckenridge Station. For Pet's Sake is a thrift shop located on North Main Street. All profits support local animal welfare organizations.
