1
Go to England. Though you don't technically need to go to England to secure an acting job there, it helps if you are there, as meeting with agents and directors can pop up on the spur of the moment.
-
2
Rent an apartment. You'll need a place to stay for a while and hotels can get expensive. You can also stay in a youth hostel to save money. If you'll need a job, get one, but beware, make sure it has flexibile hours, otherwise you'll burn through your startup cash and have to work to live, not to act.
-
3
Get your head shot taken if you don't have one already. Staple your resume to the back of your head shot. Make about 500 copies. You will be shocked how quickly they disappear as you paper lower England with your likeness.
-
4
Grab a phone directory and look up the address of every talent agency in the UK. Do a mass mailing, listing your home number as your current telephone number. Make sure you have voice mail enabled.
-
5
Canvas universities, looking for student directors and casting notices for student films. Don't be snobby; take anything you get, unless it somehow conflicts with your morals.
-
6
Do an internet search and type in "Casting UK". Many different agencies pop up. Follow all leads you get from there.
-
7
Go on every audition you can, no matter how small it might seem. Big things come from small beginnings.
-
8
Keep the faith. You've picked an exceedingly difficult arena in which to work, so be prepared for rejection, and lots of it.
