Step 1
Open your Word program and access the document you will be editing. Position your cursor in front of the text or picture to which you will be adding the hyperlink.

Click on your menu bar and choose “Insert,” then “Hyperlink.” You can also open the hyperlink dialog box by pressing the “Ctrl+K” on your keyboard. Inside the “Text to display” box, enter the text you wish to show on your hyperlink. This step isn’t necessary if you’re adding a hyperlink to a picture.

Choose a category for the hyperlink you are creating. In the “Link to” bar on the left, you will see four categories to choose from.“Existing file or Web page" creates a link to a different, preexisting document or web page. “Place in this document” allows you to create a link to a different location within the current document. “Create new document" lets you create a new document or webpage and link to it. “E-mail address" allows you to create a link to an email address.

Select a target location for the option you choose.

Click “OK” to close the hyperlink dialog box. Verify that your link was added properly in your Word document.
