How to Spend a Rainy Day on Cape Cod


Cape Cod is known for its beaches and outdoor activities. When it rains, it may seem like you are stuck in the house or cottage without anything to do. The truth of the matter is that there are a lot of indoor activities around the Cape. Many of the indoor attractions are free or very affordable. Whether you are a tourist or if you live on Cape Cod, you can have fun on any rainy day.

Take a trip to the Cape Cod Mall, which is located at 769 Iyannough Road in Hyannis. You can find a good selection of stores here. You can spend some time at Barnes & Noble browsing through the books. If you like Victoria's Secret, you can spend some time going through the clothes or trying to decide on a favorite scent. If electronics and music are your passion, F.Y.E. can keep you busy for hours. There are many more stores in this mall but, this gives you an idea of the wide variety of stores you can find there.

Visit a museum. The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum, located at 397 Main Street in Hyannis. This museum is dedicated to giving people an inside look into the time that President Kennedy spent on Cape Cod. The Cape Cod Maritime Museum, located at 135 South Street in Hyannis showcases the maritime history of Cape Cod. This museum is open Tuesday through Sunday all year long.

Work out. Barnstable Athletic Club, located at 55 Attucks Lane in Hyannis offers a weight room, cardio equipment and swimming facilities. Gold's Gym, located in the Radisson Inn at 287 Iyanough Road in Hyannis is a full gym with a full daycare so parents can work out while children play.

Go to The Gift Barn on Route 6 in North Eastham. You will find a pizza parlor, indoor game room and a huge candy store here. If it stops raining while you are at The Gift Barn, you can stay and play a round of miniature golf.

Knock down some pins. Go to one of the eight Ryan Family Amusement centers that are located in Cape Cop. You can find ten pin and candle stick bowling at each location. In addition, each location has a game room and either a snack bar or miniature restaurant.
