Instructions

    • 1

Clean windshield wipers on a monthly basis and replace them when needed (usually every other year). Start by lifting up your windshield wipers and rub a cottonball doused in rubbing alcohol over the wiper's edge. Do this several times on each windshield wiper.

    • 2

Clean your windshield of any dirt and debris. If you have bugs or other unpleasant splatter spray the debris with glass cleaner and allow it to set for a few minutes to loosen the grime. Take a newspaper page and scrunch it into a ball and rub in a circular motion until it is removed. You may need to spray more glass cleaner to further soften the debris.

    • 3

Clean the windshield a second time using glass cleaner and a clean piece of newspaper. This will leave your glass spot-free.

    • 4

Protect your windshield further by applying a protective layer of a product such as Rain X, available at automotive stores. Douse a clean towel and rub the solution onto the windshield in a circular motion. This will leave a film on your windshield. Allow this film to set for at least five minutes.

    • 5

Take a clean dry towel and work it over the filmy windshield to remove the Rain X. Flip the towel occasionally to expose a clean area. Once the film is removed your windshield will be spotless.

Tips & Warnings

  • Repeat Rain X once every three months.

  • If you do not want your hands to be exposed to newspaper ink, wear rubber gloves.

  • Tempting as it is to use an abrasive cleaner such as Comet to remove bug goop from your windshield, refrain, or else you will damage the glass.
