Makeup compact covers are often plain. Considering how often you take out your compact to apply powder or to check your appearance in the mirror, you might want to make your compact personalized and beautiful to look at. Forget about spending a lot of money and buying it. Here are some ways that you can easily decorate the cover of the makeup compact yourself and have it tailored to your taste and preference.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Adhere a pendant to the front. You can buy a pendant that you love for under $4 at the jewelry-making section of a craft store. When you get it home, carefully cut off the loop at the top of it with a pair of wire cutters. Take a small amount of tacky glue and put it on the underside of the pendant, then adhere it to the cover of your makeup compact.

  2. Step 2

Apply some rhinestones. You can get a package of rhinestones at any craft store, or even at a drugstore, and use some glue to apply them to your compact cover in any pattern that you want. You can personalize it by writing your name or initials.

  3. Step 3

Paint it. This is slightly more expensive than the other options if you don’t already have various colors of paint at home. Paint any design or pattern onto the cover, then put a coat of sealer, such as Mod Podge, over it so that it doesn’t wear off.

  4. Step 4

Apply inspiring words. Grab some magazines and cut out some words that inspire you. Apply a very small amount of decoupage sealer on the back of the paper, then adhere it to the cover of the compact. Apply it carefully and flatten it out so that there are no wrinkles in the paper. After it dries, apply another coat of sealer over the strips of paper so that they won’t curl or fall off.

  5. Step 5

Attach some faux feathers. You can find these in any craft store. They come in various types and colors including neon, peacock and black, so you can easily customize it to your liking. Get feathers that will fit on the compact and not hang off of it since they could get pulled off or stuck on something. Glue the feathers on using tacky glue or decoupage sealer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that you first lay out your items on the compact to make sure that you like how it looks before you glue it on. Once you glue it on, you’ll have a difficult time getting it off.
