Creating crafts is a great way to get ready for the Christmas season. When we think of Christmas we picture angels. This Christmas craft features that wonderful Christmas symbol, but with a twist: a fairy angel. Fairies are much more colorful than angels yet angels are much more beautiful than fairies. This project will combine what is great about each figure to make the best fairy angel around. This craft is perfect for elementary age children.

Instructions

    • 1

Start off with a toilet paper roll. Cut out a piece of white construction paper that will fit the roll. To do this wrap the construction paper around the roll and trace the lines you need to cut. If you are too young to use scissors, ask an adult for help. Glue the construction paper to the toilet paper roll.

    • 2

Cut out two triangles from your white construction paper. The first triangle should be large and the second small. Glue the first triangle on the bottom part of the toilet paper roll as the bottom of the fairy angel's dress. The triangle should be facing the correct way. The second triangle should be turned upside down. This triangle should be pasted to the middle of the toilet paper roll as the top of the dress. It can overlap the other triangle.

    • 3

Cut out two wings. These wings should look like a butterflies wings. You are going to be gluing them in the back of the fairy angel, but only in the middle. Just put the glue on the toilet paper roll to be safe. Then, put the wings on so that they are hanging out.

    • 4

Cut out a circle from beige or tan construction paper. his is the fairy angel's face. Glue it just above the dress. It can overlap the top of the dress. Wait for your glue to dry before you begin the next step.

    • 5

Get out a silver pipe cleaner and tape it to the inside of the toilet paper roll behind the head. When the pipe cleaner reaches over the head, bend it forward and then bend it in to a circle to create the halo of an angel.

    • 6

Paint your fairy angel. This is the fun part where you get to add all the detail you want to your fairy angel. Make sure you take the white wings and give them designs with many different colors. Add paint to create a face and use lots of color. Most fairies have paint around their eyes and off to the sides. Leave the dress white and the halo to symbolize the angel. Then, use the butterfly wings and face painting to symbolize what is beautiful about the fairies.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider adding sequence to your fairy. If you have any stick on gems that would work great too.
