Things You'll Need:
- Internet connection
- Internet resources (see resource links below)
-
Step 1
Agree to allow the company to place a link or feed on your website in exchange for free advertising space. (See resource below.)
-
Step 2
Advertise on a partner website. Other websites will allow you to post for free, because it lures traffic to their site and thus the "high roller" advertisers have a potential of getting more business. Some of those sites are Google and Yahoo. They offer an opportunity to list your business and basic information for free. When others surf the Internet, your business will show up on their search engines. (See resource below.)
-
Step 3
Use an online newspaper. If you are looking to sell a product. Another good way to advertise for free is to find local online newspapers. Many will have a free classifieds section. Or will allow you to list just your business information for free. (See resource below)
-
Step 4
Use a community website. There are business communities that have websites that will allow you to list your business for free. It adds to the credibility to their website. They encourage everyone to patronize each business listing, because it builds a "sense" of community. (See resource below)
-
Step 5
There are numerous opportunities to advertise online for free. It takes patience and persistence on your part. But don't lose heart. You will be rewarded richly for your efforts!

on 1/18/2009 I will also add that I started a newsletter from scratch and listed several small businesses that I have been in contact with over the past few months. I then sent an email to everyone I knew and asked that they add their business info and pass it to everyone they knew. It's not spam!
