How to Adjust the Arm of a Dog Grooming Table

Grooming tables are an essential part of dog ownership. A large number of breeds need frequent, consistent grooming. Adjusting the arm on a grooming table is important to assure that your dog is firmly and safely secured while you are grooming her. This is why making sure you adjust it to the proper height is vital to grooming safety.

• Grooming table with adjustable arm
• Screwdriver
• Pliers
• Measuring Tape

Instructions

1. Determine how tall your grooming arm needs to be. Most dogs under 20 inches in height do well with a grooming arm adjusted to around 24 inches, while larger dogs require a taller arm.

2. Loosen the grooming arm by turning the adjustment clamp or turning the screws to move the arm up and down. Loosen it up enough that the arm will slide freely, but not so loose that you take the arm completely off.

3. Measure out the correct height on your grooming arm. Some arms come premarked with measurements on the side, but if yours does not, use a measuring tape to measure the proper height for the arm.

4. Tighten the clamp or screws once you have the arm adjusted to your chosen height. Be sure that you get the arm secured firmly so that it does not move or fall down while you are grooming your dog.

5. Set your dog up on the grooming table and test the height of the grooming arm. The arm should not be too tall that it chokes your dog, and also not so short that it interferes with your ability to groom the dog.

• Use only approved parts on your grooming table. Any pieces that are not designed for your chosen grooming table can be hazardous.

• Do not place your dog on the table if your arm is not properly adjusted. A grooming arm set at the wrong height can be dangerous to you and your dog.
