If you have always wanted to be a force of nature then this tornado costume for Halloween is the perfect one for you to make your mark with. It is easy to make as long as you can thread a needle, tie a knot and make a simple stitch in fabric. This is a very humorous Halloween costume that is sure to evoke a smile or two from observers when you put the costume into motion and become a live spinning tornado.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Long or short-sleeved pullover shirt, plain (plain t-shirt will work fine)
  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Plastic figures of animals, buildings, trees and plants
  1. Step 1

Thread a needle with about 10 inches to 14 inches of any color of thread. Then pull the thread halfway through and tie the loose ends together so that you have a knotted double thread.

  2. Step 2

Put the needle anywhere on the shirt and from the inside make one stitch through the fabric so it ends up on the outside if the t-shirt, then snip the needle off and tie the cut ends together. You now have a long thread hanging off the front of the shirt anchored from the inside.

  3. Step 3

Pick one of the small plastic figures and wrap enough of the loose end of the thread around the figured at any point and tie it securely. It will now be like a charm on the end of a long string.

  4. Step 4

Repeat this all over the shirt, front and back with as many items as you like until you have a shirt covered with a number of hanging items on the end of strings. Make sure they don’t get twisted around each other and make the items varied like things you would see flying around in a tornado funnel cloud.

  5. Step 5

Spin around in a circle so that the items spin out away from your body on the ends of the strings when someone asks you what you are in your costume.
