How to Build a Rabbit Box Trap
Bunnies may be cute and cuddly in so many animated children's movies, but to gardeners they can be a real pest. They can reduce your garden to nothing but a bunch of weeds. For those individuals not comfortable with constantly standing guard at the foot of their carrot field, or pulling out the shotgun, a box trap is a nice alternative. After you trap the little bugger you can either set him free in some nearby (but not too nearby) woods, or throw him in a pot with some of those carrots and make a nice stew. Either way you won't have to worry about him munching up your garden anymore.

1
Acquire a box, preferably wooden so it cannot be chewed through, that is adequate in size to hold a rabbit. This should not have to be too large, say at least 1 by 1-foot in size. It's better if it's a bit bigger than you need it to be so the rabbit will be assured to be inside when it falls on them. If you do not have a box fitting this description, simply get some 1-inch lumber and construct a simple box yourself.
-
2
Prop the box up on one side with a large, sturdy stick or wooden pole. It should be tall enough so that the rabbit can get into the box, but not so high that it will have time to run away.

3
Tie a piece of string, thin rope, or fishing line to the stick or wooden pole. Make sure that it is tied nice and taut so it will pull the stick even with the slightest bit of tension.
-
4
Tie the other end of the string to your bait. Make sure your bait is something solid, like a carrot, so a piece of line can be tied to it.
-
5
Keep an eye on your rabbit box trap to make sure it hasn't been tripped, either by a rabbit or accidentally. If you have caught something you will want to free it quickly enough so that it doesn't die, and if you haven't you will want to reset it so that you can catch your prey.
