Look for inexpensive invitations at a discount store or a wholesale party supply store. Invitations at these stores will be less expensive than if you buy the invitations at a card store or grocery store. Plain pastel colored invitations are fine—baby shower invitations don’t have to be fancy.

Ask guests to RSVP at least two weeks in advance so that you know the quantity of food and supplies you will need to purchase. Two weeks will give you plenty of time to shop for bargains.

Tips & Warnings
If one or more of the guests is diabetic, consider making a smaller sugar-free version of the original cake or buy a sugar-free pie.
It is traditional to play silly games at baby showers. If several of your guests don't know each other, these games can serve as ice-breakers. If all the guests are close friends, though, games aren't necessary.
Remember to allocate a table or chair for the gifts. This way they will stay together and will be easier to keep track of during the shower.
Save more money by using a generic brand of lemon lime soda for the punch. Two bottles should be enough for 10 guests.
If the shower will be held in the evening, consider making it a pot luck occasion with every guest bringing food.
Don't make the punch too early or the sherbet will melt.
Don’t make the cake more than a day or two in advance or it might taste stale.
