Save up enough money for your wardrobe. A basic wardrobe, assuming you don't already have anything you need, will require a minimum of $500.This includes clothing, jewelry, basic make-up, shoes and various accessories. You'll probably need more than that, but this should be enough to get your started.

Sign up at the Hottopic website (see Additional Resources) and join the site's newsletter. Watch you email for a letter sometime in August telling you that the back-to-school sale is going on. This is the best time to shop. Hottopic clothes can be more expensive than other stores, so you'll want to take advantage of savings and clearance sales.

Go to the store so you can try everything on in person. You can buy your accessories later online. You'll want to make sure the clothes you want fit and look good on you before you buy them. Try on whatever you want, but you'll want to leave the store with these items: 2 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of capris or shorts, 5 t-shirts, 2 fitted shirts and 1 jacket.

Go to various discount stores and shop for the rest of your wardrobe, such as vintage shirts, socks, shoes and some cheap blue jeans. If you want to wear Hottopic pants every day, you'll need a lot more money since the average price for one pair runs around $50.

Go online to Hottopic's website and pick out your accessories. The basics for make-up include eyeshadow, some kind of body glitter and hair dye if you want a change in your hair color. You'll probably want to buy a lot of bracelets and some necklaces. Black bracelets go great with everything and they last a long time. Consider buying school supplies and a backpack or a large purse.
