How to Scan an Original Image to a Computer With an HP Officejet 5600

The HP Officejet 5600 All-in-One Printer uses HP’s Image Zone software to fax, scan, copy and print in photo quality. The unit can print and copy up to 13 color pages each minute and up to 20 pages per minute in black mode. You can use the 25-sheet document feeder to automatically feed each page onto the scanner glass, allowing for efficient copy, scan and fax processing, or you can choose to load original images for scanning manually.

Instructions

1. Lift the scanner lid. Place the original image, print side down, onto the scanner glass. Position the original image at the left front corner of the scanner glass. Lower the scanner lid.

2. Move your cursor to the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon located on the lower left tool bar of your monitor. Double left click your mouse to open the HP Solution Center.

3. Determine whether the image you wish to scan is a picture or a document. Move your cursor to the appropriate command box on the HP Solution Center. Single left click your mouse to begin the preview scanning process.

4. Check the preview scan that appears in the "HP Scanning" dialog box. Make any desired adjustments by single left clicking on the menu items on the right hand side of the dialog box. Options include "Resize," "Auto Correct," "Lighten/Darken," "Sharpen, Color Adjustment" and "Resolution." Once you are satisfied with the quality of your scan, move your cursor over the "Accept" button and single left click your mouse to begin the actually scanning process.

5. Determine whether you wish to scan another image. Move your cursor over the "Yes" or "No" button in the dialog box and single left click your mouse. The final image will be displayed in the HP Image Zone viewer. The image can now be saved to any desired file on your computer.

Tips & Warnings

• Almost any image can be scanned from photographs, magazines or printed documents as long as the object being scanned does not scratch the scanner glass.
