Instructions

    • 1

Paint an empty plastic milk jug with orange paint. Using a thicker paintbrush will make this go much faster, and older children or adults may be able to use spray paint.

    • 2

Draw a jack-o-lantern face on the front of your milk jug with a black marker. This will be the design for your pumpkin's face. You may also choose to draw a scary setting outline such as a black cat shape.

    • 3

Using scissors or box cutters, carefully cut out the design you just outlined in black marker. Use caution with box cutters to avoid getting cut. Have an adult complete this part of the project for small children.

    • 4

Color the milk jug top black with markers so that it looks like the stem of a pumpkin.

    • 5

Place a small flashlight or battery-operated votive candle into your milk jug pumpkin to light it up and create an eerie glow for your walkway. Do not use really burning candles because they can burn the plastic milk jug and possibly start a fire.

    • 6

Cut out another face on the opposite side, use glow in the dark paint, or sprinkle on some black glitter to give your pumpkin some added detail and flair. Visit the resource below for more information on other Halloween crafts.

  • Cut out a design on both sides of the milk jug to make your pumpkin more interesting.

  • Supervise young children when they are using scissors or box cutters.

  • Do not use burning candles in your milk jug pumpkin, as it could start a fire.
