UK Stud Poker is commonly played in casinos, hence its alternate name, Casino Stud Poker. UK Stud Poker is quite easy to learn and play at home, if you so choose. One person just needs to take on the role of the dealer.

Things You'll Need:

  • Deck of cards
  1. Step 1

Know the basic rules. This type of poker has two important rules. Rule # 1: Before the hand is dealt, players must place an ante. After they place an ante, then they can get cards from the dealer. Rule #2: The dealer automatically loses if he does not have an ace/king combination. Beating the dealer's hand is the focus of UK Stud Poker.

  2. Step 2

Ante up. All of the players place bets.

  3. Step 3

Deal out the cards. The dealer deals 5 cards face-down to each player. He then deals 4 face-down cards to himself and 1 final card facing up.

  4. Step 4

Look at your hand. If you're a player and you don't think your hand is good, you can surrender it, which gives up your ante. If you feel you have a good hand, continue playing by betting two times the ante. The dealer than reveals her hand. If the dealer does not have at least an ace/king combo, she loses and the round is over.

  5. Step 5

Continue playing. If the dealer qualifies, then his hand is compared to the players' hands. If the dealer beats the players, the players' ante and bets are lost. If a player wins, he receives a 1 to 1 payout on his ante.
