Organize a Wedding

Organizing a wedding can be one of the most important challenges you can face in your lifetime. There are many goods to be purchased, services to be booked and other important details to attend to. The steps below will help you better organize your big day.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A pocket or purse organizer
  1. Step 1

Make a list in your organizer of all the things that you need or want for your wedding. You can also make a little memo beside each item. Your notes could include information such as what vendors you would like to meet, and any special sales or coupons you might have.

  2. Step 2

Delegate responsibilities. Wedding planning means there are a lot of things that need to be done. While you should have a master list and oversee everything, there are plenty of secondary jobs you can delegate to your bridal party and the immediate family. Make another list of who will be in charge of what and have a meeting so that you are all on the same page.

  3. Step 3

Begin shopping and secure the big things early. The wedding gown, the banquet hall, honeymoon and band or DJ should be secured at least a year in advance.

  4. Step 4

If you are planning to book a certain photographer or videographer you will also want to book him as early as possible. A photographer who is with you all day can usually only shoot one wedding in a day, so if you are getting married during the heavy wedding season (May to October), he may be booked on your day if you wait too long.

  5. Step 5

Appoint duties for the wedding day itself. Decide who will bring the toss away bouquet, who will bring the alter flowers to the hall, who will announce the bridal party and family as they enter the reception, who will take care of tipping those who are providing services and who will take care of transportation needs.
