How to Make Your Hair Grow Straight

There are things you can do to encourage your hair to grow straight.

Many people would love for their hair to grow naturally straight so they wouldn't have to deal with curly hair, partially curly hair or the damage an electric hair straightener can do. While there is nothing you can do to make your hair straight by nature, there are ways you can help your hair grow straight. It will take time and some maintenance.

Things You'll Need

• Hair dryer
• Wide-tooth comb
• Rich hair conditioner
• Leave-in conditioner
• Hair brush
• Hair-straightening kit
• Chemical relaxer

Instructions

1. Blow-dry your hair (or allow it to air dry) before going to bed. If you go to bed with wet hair, the hair will dry in any shape it wishes, including curly. Be sure to comb your hair out properly, too.

2. Apply a good rich conditioner to your hair after every shampoo to help smooth the hair and eliminate frizz and slight curls.

3. Apply a leave-in conditioner to your hair daily.

4. Apply hair straighteners, following the directions on the label. Finish by brushing with a good quality brush.

5. Apply a chemical relaxer to your hair, following the directions on the kit.

6. Ask a hair professional to apply a straightener.

• Comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb before shampooing to remove any tangles.

• Purchase shampoos and conditioners that state that they will help tame frizzy hair, if this is your main desire for straight hair.

• Drink plenty of water to keep your hair hydrated; dehydrated hair can lead to frizzy hair.

• Give your hair a break from the blow dryer once in a while to help combat dry hair (which can lead to frizzy hair).
