How to Make Dandelion Blossom Fritters

When you can't get rid of the dandelions in your yard, pick them and make something good to eat with them. Their presence in your yard won't bother you so much!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
  1. Step 1

    Gather new dandelion blossoms before the center of the flower opens. Wash, dry and put aside.

  2. Step 2

    Beat together egg yolks, milk, flour, salt, melted butter, and lemon juice.

  3. Step 3

    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

  4. Step 4

    Dip each blossom into batter.

  5. Step 5

    Deep fry until blossoms are golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

  6. Step 6

    Serve hot as a side dish with a mild flavored meat like chicken, or with a sweet syrup or sauce and topped with powdered sugar.

Tips & Warnings
  • Best when served hot.
