Choose Vaginal Dryness Products

Vaginal dryness affects not only your sex life, but also your everyday life. Regular activities, such as walking, can become uncomfortable with a lack of natural vaginal lubricant. There are many products on the market for this condition. Here you can learn how to sift through those products to choose the best vaginal dryness product for you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine if your vaginal dryness is caused by low estrogen levels. You can easily find this out by going to your gynecologist for a test. Not all vaginal dryness is caused by low estrogen, but many cases are.

  2. Step 2

Decide if you are disciplined enough to use vaginal dryness products 2 or 3 times per week. If you think you can handle this, there are estrogen creams and vaginal tablets you can take to improve your condition. The tablet is called Vagifem.

  3. Step 3

Go to the doctor to have the Estring inserted in your vagina. This is another estrogen treatment for vaginal dryness. It evenly distributes the hormone over a 3 month period. After that time, you must have a new one inserted.

  4. Step 4

Purchase over the counter personal lubricants such as Astroglide if you are too embarrassed to talk to a doctor about your vaginal dryness. Although it is extremely common, some women simply don't want to discuss it with their doctor. The best part: Astroglide is much less expensive than a trip to the medical clinic.

Tips & Warnings
  • Let your doctor know if you have other symptoms of menopause, other than vaginal dryness. Other treatments can be prescribed that treat all of your symptoms at once.
  • Don't douche. It creates additional vaginal dryness and is virtually unnecessary for all women.
