How to Find an Inexpensive Mother's Day Gift

You want to get mom something special for Mother's Day, but you don't have a lot of money. As long as the gift comes from the heart, it doesn't have to cost a lot. You can bake, create or make something special for your mother.

1. Visit your local bakery for mom's favorite desserts, or bake something yourself. Good cooking is a great way to show you care, especially since mom has spent years cooking for you.

2. Get in the gardening mood and buy your mom some flowers, bulbs, seeds or plants. You don't have to spend a lot for these items. Often many stores have flowers on sale for Mother's Day.

3. Give mom a scrapbook full of all her favorite memories. Take your own photos and collect some special ones liken those taken from mom's past on her wedding day and your birth.

4. Create a photo CD for mom. Print some of the photos so mom can put her favorite ones in a photo album. Take 12 of the best photos to your local print shop and get a calendar made for around $20.

5. Burn a CD of all mom's favorite songs. Mom will be surprised by such a personal gift, especially if she's not computer savvy enough to make a CD on her own.

6. Do some odd jobs or home repairs for your mom. Check if she needs something fixed, built or even just painted. Extend the gift beyond Mother's Day. Mom will appreciate this gift like no other because it gives her free time and peace of mind.
