There are a wide variety of outdoor swimming pool tiles to choose from, including stone-look, gloss tile, glass and mosaic tiles. They are available in a variety of sizes and a wide range of colors, styles, patterns and designs. Most tiles are made of glazed porcelain and are water- and frostproof.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the type of tile you'd like to go in or around your swimming pool. You have many options when it comes to tile texture, design, style, pattern and color. A textured tile will be less slippery than a smooth tile when wet.

  2. Step 2

Be sure to purchase a pool-grade tile to avoid the cracking and staining that can occur from exposure to water and swimming pool chemicals. Pool-grade tiles are available in many materials, including ceramic.

  3. Step 3

Check your swimming pool tile selection to ensure the tile is frostproof. Frostproof tiles can easily withstand extremely cold temperatures without incident.

  4. Step 4

Select and use a waterproof tile grout or cement with your swimming pool tile. Waterproof tile grout and cement come in a number of colors and can withstand the ongoing wetting and drying process without cracking.

  5. Step 5

Find out about the warranty. Learn about the type of flaws or tile issues covered under your warranty and for how long a period.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take some tile samples home to see how they look with the rest of your outdoor decor. Be sure to get a second and third opinion from your family and friends.

on 8/22/2009 Always use a floor safety product that is non-slip on pool deck epecially when slippery tiles are present. www.slipdoctors.com has the safest product on the market. Most effective too!
