Make sure the engine is cool before you start cleaning. Putting cold water on a hot engine damages it according to auto sources. Furthermore, a heated engine means the radiator holds hot coolant under intense pressure.

Raise the Corvette hood and put it in a securely fixed, open position. See your rectangular-shaped radiator sitting near the front center of the vehicle. You find it located in the same place for both the 6.0L V8 and 7.0L V8 engines. Next, loosen dead insects and other debris by putting the nylon brush into the soapy water and gently scrubbing the radiator front in the direction of the fins. If you rub against the direction of the fragile metal fins, they might bend.

Saturate the radiator front with gentle streams of water. Avoid turning the water up too high because too much pressure on the delicate radiator fins causes them to bend. Repeat this cleansing process every 12,000 miles or according to scheduled maintenance in your owner's manual.

Tips & Warnings
DEX-COOL engine coolant fills your Corvette cooling system. You can expect this coolant to stay in your Corvette for 150,000 miles or 5 years whichever comes first if you add only DEX-COOL extended life coolant into your cooling network. Putting any other coolant in the system can lead to premature radiator, heater core or engine corrosion.
