When you're looking for a creative birthday or holiday gift for the cheese connoisseur in your life, gather a selection of goodies to include in a handsome gift basket. Consider one of the following ideas featuring delectable treats and helpful cheese-related tools.

From Quick Guide: Gift Baskets
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cheese
  • Crackers or bread
  • Snacks
  • Wine, beer or club soda
  • Tableware
  • Cheese-serving tools
  • Cookbook
  • Basket, cellophane, ribbon and tag
  1. Step 1

Gather enough items in the cheese gift basket so your friend can take it "as is" to enjoy as a picnic on the beach or at an outdoor concert. Add 2 to 3 different types of cheese or varieties from different regions. Also include crackers or bread, fruit, scones and a bottle of wine, beer or club soda, along with plates, glasses, napkins and a cheese knife and board.

  2. Step 2

Create an eco-friendly cheese basket by including an assortment of organic cheeses and crackers, in addition to some locally produced artisan varieties. You can also add a bottle of organic wine to enjoy along with the snack. (See Resources)

  3. Step 3

Build a basket of snacks and accompaniments that will complement your friend's favorite cheeses if you'd rather not include the perishable cheese itself. Consider a selection of crackers, nuts and packages of sweet treats like cookies and scones.

  4. Step 4

Compile an assortment of cheese-related tools for a friend who loves to cook with cheese. Buy a cookbook that features recipes that incorporate cheese and also include items like an interesting cheese knife, a beautiful and functional dome and platter and a handy microplane for grating.

  5. Step 5

Choose a basket that will accommodate the goodies, arrange the treats and surround the basket with colorful cellophane. Tie it with a ribbon and add a gift tag that not only includes your names, but also an appropriate cheese-related quote.
