1
Utilize a bait bag whether you are in a boat or on foot. Trout are attracted to the liveliest worms, and the best way to keep your worms fresh is in a bait bag. This bag hangs from your vest and gets frequently submerged in water which keeps the worms fresh.

2
Use small hooks even if the fish is big. A hook from sizes 6 through 10 are best for snagging trout. Small hooks lodge deeply in the fish's mouth, increasing your chances of capture.

3
Purchase gang hooks. This combination of two to four hooks, shaped much like a grappling hook, allows you to present your worm in a way that appears natural to fish.
-
4
Tie your gang hook off with a barrel swivel knot. This provides adequate support for fish of any size.
-
5
Hook the worm horizontally around the gang hook. This will make the worm appear to be floating flat in the water instead of doubled over.
