Built Green, a Washington state program, is administrated by various Master Builders Associations of Washington state counties. Built Green offers property owners the ability to certify their construction for green building compliance. With the Built Green program, the builder, architects or other planners can identify features for reaching this certification before building and build to certain standards for inclusion and recognition as a Built Green property.

1
Find the online Built Green certification checklists. These are available on the website of the association (see Resources).
-
2
Identify your project. The Built Green program provides different checklists for different projects, including Single-Family New Construction, Remodeler, Multi-Family and Communities. Pick the checklist that defines your project.
-
3
Review all of the environmental categories on the checklist. These will all be important in building your property to Built Green certifications.
-
4
Ensure that your builder or architect plans the construction according to the categories in the checklist, installing specific features that will earn a good Built Green rating. The checklist provides detailed information on what should be included in the building plan.
-
5
Submit all application materials to the Master Builder's Association. Representatives will review the application and give the plan a rating on a scale, based on compliance.
