Instructions

    • 1

Select charms that represent your child's personality or favorite things. Consider ballet slippers if your daughter likes to dance, an instrument if your son loves music or soccer or baseballs if your kids love sports (see Resources below).

    • 2

Use a jump ring to affix the charm to a lobster claw clasp. Hook the clasp through the loop in the zipper. The easily removable clasp will let you move the zipper pull from garment to garment or change it easily whenever your child's tastes change.

Dangle large chipboard shapes to help younger kids who are developing their fine motor skills. Choose flowers, arrows and stars or decorate plain shapes like circles or squares with stickers or glitter sprinkled over a thin layer of glue. Punch a hole in the top of the shape and tie it to the zipper loop with a double knotted piece of ribbon.

Create cute zipper pulls for your teenager's book bag with cute acrylic shapes originally designed as accents for scrapbook layouts. Attach them to zippers with short lengths of bead chain. You can also add colorful ribbon ties to the chain for an extra touch.
