Instructions

    • 1

Press the lace handkerchief flat. Pull one of the corners to the middle until the hankie measures 4 inches across the fold. Press the fold flat.

    • 2

Sew a straight line of stitching ½ inch from the edge of fold. Start at the lace edging on one side of the fold and stop at the lace edging on the other side. Be sure to backspace on both ends of the row of stitching.

    • 3

Repeat this process for the remaining three corners of the hankie. Be sure not to sew on any of the lace edging.

    • 4

Cut a piece of ribbon into a 24-inch length. Pin the safety pin through one end of the ribbon.

    • 5

Thread color ribbon "A" through the casing you just created. Start at one point and go through all four casings. Bring the safety pin all the way through and pull the end of the ribbon along with it.

    • 6

Do the same thing with the color ribbon "B." This time start the ribbon in the casing opposite where you began in Step 5. Trim all four ends of the ribbon at a slant to prevent it from raveling.

    • 7

Make a pouch in the gathered opening created by the ribbon. Add potpourri for scent. Pull the ribbons tight to close the sachet. Tie the ribbons in a pretty bow. Arrange the lace edges as necessary.
