1
Select a monogram, traditional or modern, for your project from related books or websites. In addition, use embroidery retail websites as a resource, as they often feature extensive monogram samplers and finished product images. (See Resources.)
-
2
Design a monogram from scratch if pre-made styles don't match your interior decor or tastes, or utilize a word processing program to create a monogram from existing font styles. In addition, many embroidery sewing machines feature programmed monogram styles to select from.

3
Purchase a monogram embroidery or cross-stitch kit at a craft or sewing store or a book on creating monograms using different sewing techniques. Pre-printed iron-on/stitch-on monograms and monogram stencils also exist and provide a basic guideline to follow when stitching.
-
4
Contact an embroidery specialist or seamstress to monogram your linen napkins for you. Although this can cost more money than the methods mentioned above, the monetary cost may prove slight in comparison to the time expended trying to complete this project. Many people, whose talents don't include sewing, find this is the best method for monogramming items for their homes.
-
5
Consider the size of your monogram in relation to the size of your napkins. Smaller monograms can serve as a signature to a larger piece of embroidery or artwork on your linens and larger monograms can act as the primary piece of art or statement.
-
6
Consider the placement of the monogram when you fold or unfold a napkin, as the position of your monogram also affects how the final product looks.
