It's fun to make your own chocolate covered pretzels at Christmas, and those pretzels can do double duty as Christmas ornaments. With just a bit of dressing up, you can tie them on your Christmas tree. Be sure to make plenty, because these delicious pretzel ornaments will disappear quickly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 (6 ounce) bag white chocolate chips
  • 2 small saucepans
  • 2 tbsp butter, divided
  • 1 bag of "knot" pretzels
  • Waxed paper
  • Candy cake decorations, if desired
  • 1 (6 ounce) bag regular chocolate chips
  • Red or green ribbon
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Place one 6 ounce bag of white chocolate chips in a small saucepan and add 2 Tbsp. of butter. Put the saucepan on low heat and stir the mixture constantly until it melts.

  2. Step 2

Dip several "knot" pretzels in the melted white chocolate and put them on a piece of waxed paper to cool. Sprinkle the pretzels with some candy cake decorations while they're still warm, if desired.

  3. Step 3

Melt a 6 ounce bag of regular chocolate chips in a separate saucepan, and add 2 Tbsp. of butter. Melt the chocolate as you did in Step 1.

  4. Step 4

Coat several "knot" pretzels in the melted regular chocolate and let them cool on the waxed paper along with the white chocolate pretzels.

  5. Step 5

Leave a few of the pretzels plain, if you desire.

  6. Step 6

Cut the red or green ribbon in pieces about 12 inches long, and tie a large bow on each pretzel.

  7. Step 7

Hang the decorated pretzels on the Christmas tree.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't hang the pretzel Christmas tree ornaments near a light, because the chocolate will melt.
