A green homebased business is one that provides services or products that are "green" or good for the environment. For those who want to start their own business but don't want to do harm to the environment, these businesses are a significant route to take. Best of all, many people, including customers, look towards green businesses over traditional businesses. Everyone wants to do something to help the environment.

  1. Step 1

    Determine what you are good at and make a business of it. Nearly any business can go green. Choose recycled products, use non toxic chemicals, and use the Internet for promotion, business management and correspondence to save trees.

    Stay home. Just doing your business at home will save the environment in a considerable way, carbon emissions. If you currently have a job that you can telecommute, go for it. You don't have to lose the job you love if you want to be homebased and green.

    Promote the green concept. Information sales are one of the foundations of new movements, including movements like improving the environment and saving wildlife. Start a website, write and sell books, do speeches, encourage community activists, and help other businesses to become more green in the way they are doing business. These are all ways you can make a business out of the green concept.

  4. Step 4

    Cultivate your homebased business around the sales of green products and services. Sell candles, cleaning products, foods that are organic or other products that are healthy and good for the environment. Get in the business of helping to design green homes, do green remodeling or offer design work that is good for the environment.

  5. Step 5

    Find investors who can back up your green homebased business dream at your local bank, through small business lenders and even from area businesses looking to be known for their efforts. Start your home business on green standards and you'll be growing quickly.
