How to Wash a Velour Robe
Velour is a luxurious fabric that has the look and feel of velvet, but is less expensive and easier to cut and sew. Velour is perfect for a robe because of its wonderful "snuggle factor." Wash the robe separately to prevent fibers from other garments from getting caught in the velour's pile. Consider that the velour may bleed color to other items, too.

Turn the robe inside out before laundering. Roll down the cuffs of the sleeves. Undo any buttons. Check the robe's pockets and make sure they're empty.

Remove the belt and place it in a nylon mesh laundry bag to prevent it from becoming tangled during the wash. Zip the bag to secure it.

Fill the washer with cool water. Add 1/4 to 1/2 of the recommended amount of laundry product. Agitate to mix before adding the robe.

Place the robe in the washer. Distribute the volume of the robe loosely in the machine. Add the mesh bag with the robe's belt.

Wash the robe on delicate for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove the garment and the mesh bag as soon as the cycle is finished. Gently shake out the robe and turn it right side out.

Place the robe in the dryer. Set the dryer sensor to tumble until the robe is dry. Remove the robe from the dryer. Fold or place it on a padded hanger.
