How to Download a Backgammon Computer Game for Mac OS X
So you want to play backgammon but don't have a backgammon set, or you need an opponent. All you have to do is boot up your Mac OS X computer and download a backgammon game. Depending on the game you'll get almost instant access to online opponents, a computer opponent, or both.

Locate a backgammon game to download. The Mac Games and More, Absolute Backgammon and Backgammon Software pages are all good places to look--or you can do a Google search for Backgammon Mac OS X.

Click the name of the backgammon program you've selected for more information. Sometimes this also starts the download; if it doesn't, look for a "Download" button and click that.

Pay close attention to the filename you've downloaded, then find it on your computer. Most browsers default to putting downloaded files in your desktop.

Double-click the file you downloaded to open and unpack it. This should create a program icon; drag this icon into your applications folder to complete installation.

Run the program by double-clicking the icon in your applications folder.

Tips & Warnings
Once you've dragged the unpacked program into your applications folder, you can drag a copy of its icon from the applications folder into your dock--the Mac version of a menu bar. This way you can access the backgammon game immediately from the dock.
