How to Stop Online Shopping Email Ads
Many websites require users to register to access the site. By insisting on registration, the website captures users' email addresses and then sends out email shopping ads notifying them of special offers and sales. These email addresses are often sold to other retailers who bombard web users with their ads and then sell the list yet again to another retailer. Soon email boxes are stuffed with junk mail.

1
Read the advertisement to locate information on how to unsubscribe. Look for fine print toward the bottom of the ad, usually outside the main text.
-
2
Visit the site indicated to unsubscribe. Take care not to download any files in the process. Look for at most an area to enter the "unsubscribe" email address and expect a confirmation screen to follow.
-
-
3
File unwanted email shopping ads that continue to arrive despite the "Unsubscribe" request. Use the "Spam" option to send unwanted emails directly to the spam folder upon arrival. Tick off the unwanted emails and then click "Spam." There is no need to open each individual email.
-
4
Review the advertisement and look for a "Contact Us" option. Send a quick email to the sender requesting removal from the mailing list.
-
5
Take care in sharing an email address with any retail Website. Be sure to tick or untick the box that gives permission for future mailings about shopping opportunities and/or permission to share the email with other affiliates.
-
6
Set up an alternate email account where shopping ads can go. Use this email address to when registration is necessary at a site where the ads are inevitable but unwanted.
