Step 1
Ask at your school. Many teachers have lists of students from other parts of the country or world who you may be able to write to and have as a penpal. They may even help you get started in writing to your penpal.
-
Step 2
Join a summer program at your library and see if they have penpals for you. If it's not summertime, you may still be able to find a penpal through your local library, since its workers encourage your learning almost as much as the schools do.
-
Step 3
Talk to your parents to see if you have relatives in other countries who you can write to as a penpal. This is a great way to learn more about your family as well as another part of the world.
-
Step 4
Check out the sites in the resource section where you can find penpals through the Internet. You can correspond with these penpals by writing, email or instant messenger.
-
Step 5
Connect with others that may have the same interests as you. If you belong to a drama club or are in sports, talk to the people running the program and see if they have connections to other students who have the same interest as you in another part of the country or in a different country. There's also a site in the resource section that matches you up with others with common interests.
