Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Decorative paper
  • Fabric
  • Heavy duty stapler

    Create the Shell

  1. Step 1

Choose a heavier stock paper to use as the cover of your book. Use construction paper or card stock folded in half and staple together to make the outer shell with a lighter weight paper inside.

  2. Step 2

Take a trip to your local printer for a pre-bound book that you can fill. Choose from a large selection of paper and many colors.

  3. Step 3

Shop at a scrap booking or craft store for other paper options. Select a sturdy fabric such as denim, leather, suede or vinyl for an alternative to paper.

  4. Fill Your Book

  5. Step 1

Collect your children's homework assignments and art projects for the year, and put a selection of the work in one homemade book at the end of each school year.

  6. Step 2

Add photographs to your homework book, or just make a scrapbook of photographs from a vacation or special occasion.

  7. Step 3

Make a homemade book of favorite family recipes. Include the recipe, a photograph of the dish prepared and a note the cook.

  8. Step 4

Create your own collection of short stories, essays or poems. Print each on a sheet of paper that you can include in your book. Include illustrations or photographs for an added form of media.
