Things You'll Need:
- New horn kit
- Socket Wrench Set
- Wire crimper/stripper
-
Step 1
Locate the original manufacturer's horn. The horns on the Lincoln Navigator should be behind the front bumper on either side of the grill.
-
Step 2
Remove the mounting bolts with a socket wrench and disconnect the power connector from the horn. You should now be able to remove the original horn. Repeat this step for the horn on the other side.
-
Step 3
Mount the new horns using the connectors that came in the kit. You should be able to simply mount the new horns in the old brackets if your kit is a direct factory replacement. However, some horn kits offer large air horns that come with air compressors that you may need to install in a non-standard location.
-
Step 4
Attach the power connectors to the new horns using the old wiring harness to retain the factory wiring if possible. Some after-market horn kits may include a custom wiring harness that will require you to use a wire/crimper splitter to connect the wiring.
-
Step 5
Test the new horns to ensure they work. One horn is a high tone and one is a low tone so it should be easy to determine if both are working. Be aware that horns that use a compressor will be extremely loud.
