The Lincoln Navigator is a full-size luxury Sport Utility Vehicle first introduced in 1998. Lincoln Navigator owners frequently replace the original equipment manufacturer's horn with a much louder aftermarket horn. Replacing a horn on a Lincoln Navigator is a relatively straightforward task; only a few tools are necessary.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • New horn kit
  • Socket Wrench Set
  • Wire crimper/stripper
  1. Step 1

Locate the original manufacturer's horn. The horns on the Lincoln Navigator should be behind the front bumper on either side of the grill.

  2. Step 2

Remove the mounting bolts with a socket wrench and disconnect the power connector from the horn. You should now be able to remove the original horn. Repeat this step for the horn on the other side.

  3. Step 3

Mount the new horns using the connectors that came in the kit. You should be able to simply mount the new horns in the old brackets if your kit is a direct factory replacement. However, some horn kits offer large air horns that come with air compressors that you may need to install in a non-standard location.

  4. Step 4

Attach the power connectors to the new horns using the old wiring harness to retain the factory wiring if possible. Some after-market horn kits may include a custom wiring harness that will require you to use a wire/crimper splitter to connect the wiring.

  5. Step 5

Test the new horns to ensure they work. One horn is a high tone and one is a low tone so it should be easy to determine if both are working. Be aware that horns that use a compressor will be extremely loud.
