The Honda Accord is a midsize sedan. It is important for owners to check the tire pressure on the car. It is also important to know how much air should be in the tire, so drivers can keep the pressure in the Honda Accord at a high performance level.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Let your vehicle cool down, if you have been driving. The tires must sit at least an hour, so that you can obtain an accurate reading.

  2. Step 2

Remove the valve cap. Unscrew the cap so you have access to the valve, and put the cap in a safe place so you don't lose it. They are important to keeping the valves clean and free of debris.

  3. Step 3

Insert the tire gauge onto the valve stem. Place the tire gauge over the valve and wait until you hear a sound. Remove the gauge after a couple seconds and look at the number on the gauge.

  4. Step 4

Learn what the pressure reading should be for the best performance for your Accord. Honda recommends maintaining the tire pressure in the Accord between 26 and 34 psi. To know if you have to insert more air into the tire, determine what the pressure should be. The manufacturers of the Accord provide P225/50R17 93V tires and the 93 designates the amount of pressure needed. The 93 on the tire number tells you that each tire on your Accord has a weight load of 1,433 lbs. You should increase the tire pressure if you plan on hauling a heavy load and decrease it if you plan on hauling a light load.

  5. Step 5

Recheck the pressure. After you have finished pumping air into the tire--or releasing air--check the pressure again in the same way you did previously.
