How to Replace the Wiper Blades on a Chevy Avalanche

When wet weather starts to hit the road, you want to make sure that your vehicle has wiper blades that are working properly. A windshield which is water-logged will impair the driver's vision, rendering driving unsafe. Here's how to replace the wiper blades on a Chevy Avalanche so you'll be ready for wet weather conditions.

Things You'll Need

  • Chevy Avalanche wiper blade replacement kit
  • Pull the wiper arm up, away from the windshield so that it locks in the service position.

  • Grab and squeeze the grooved areas on each side of the wiper arm.

  • Rotate the wiper blade arm away from the windshield.

  • Pull the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm and discard.

  • Align the new wiper blade with the wiper arm. (Be sure that you're keeping the grooved areas squeezed.)

  • Release your grip on the grooved areas of the wiper arm. This secures the wiper blade into place. Repeat this process on the other wiper arm to complete replacement of new wiper blades on your Chevy Avalanche.

Tips & Warnings

  • Chevy Avalanche cautions in their owner's manual that wiper blades purchased from places other than the dealership may have slightly different installation instructions.
  • Your wiper blades should be checked every 6 months for wear. If they are cracking, or dry rotting, then they need to be replaced.
  • Never put your wiper arms back against the windshield without having installed wiper blades. The sharpness of the metal may scratch the glass.
