Are you looking for a fun and creative gift idea? Consider giving a gift of a share of stock.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Visit OneShare.com.

  2. Step 2

Browse the website and discover all of the companies from which you can buy one share of stock. You'll find companies like Disney, Yahoo, McDonald's, Harley Davidson, and Martha Stewart.

  3. Step 3

Roll your mouse over the titles at the top of the page. You can browse by occasion, by recipient, or by interest. There is even a section for giving a child their first share of stock.

  4. Step 4

Choose a share to match either the occasion or the recipient. Here are some ideas:

    Wedding: A share of Tiffany
New Baby: A share of Disney
Father's Day: A share of Calloway Golf
Mother's Day: A share of Martha Stewart
Housewarming: A share of Home Depot

You get the idea. There are tons of fun choices!

  5. Step 5

Choose a stock to purchase. You will also have options for having the share of stock matted, framed, and/or engraved.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you purchase a stock from the 'My First Stock' selection of kid-friendly companies, your recipient will receive a congratulations card, an owner's manual, a quick reference guide, and a Stock Matters Booklet. What a fun way to give an educational gift!
  • Purchasing a single share of stock from OneShare.com is not the most cost effective way to buy stock by any means. If you're only buying stock for investment purposes, you'll want to choose another method. If, however, you want to combine an investment in a single share with giving the gift of an actual stock certificate, OneShare.com is a very unique way to do that.
  • Allow plenty of time. It can take up to eight weeks to receive the certificate so shop early.
