Toddlers love musical instruments. While you can find many different types of musical instruments at a toy store, you can easily make a paper plate tambourine from items you probably have somewhere in your house.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper plates (two for each tambourine)
  • Dry beans or coins
  • Stapler and staples
  • Hole puncher
  • Crepe paper or ribbons
  • Craft glue
  • Stickers
  1. Step 1

Place the two plates on top of each other, with the bottom of the plates facing outside. Punch about four to six holes around the circumference of the plate.

  2. Step 2

Place a tablespoon of coins or dry beans onto one of the paper plates.

  3. Step 3

Place a dab of glue onto the top of the other paper plate. Line up the two plates to ensure that the holes match. Press the second paper plate down firmly onto the first paper plate.

  4. Step 4

Using the stapler, staple the two plates together.

  5. Step 5

Cut ribbon into 6-8 inch pieces, and thread between the punched holes.

  6. Step 6

    Decorate the tambourine with stickers.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also decorate your tambourine with glitter or paint. For even more fun, your toddler can decorate the tambourine, using crayons or markers.
  • You can also attach small bells to the end of each ribbon for added musical fun.
  • Be cautious when using beans or coins around young toddlers, as they are a choking hazard.
