How to Use Apple Address Book to View Google Maps

You bought a new Mac. You remembered to add your favorite pizza place information into your Apple Computer's Address Book program. But when you tried to tell a friend where this fabulous pizza place is, you can't quite explain the location without the visual of the actual address and a map. You can use Apple's Address Book to provide a Google Map to your friend.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Apple Computer
  • Internet Acesss
  • Apple'ss Address Book program (comes standard with any new Mac).
  • An entry in the Address Book that you wish to share with a friend
  • Google Maps
  1. Step 1

    Open Apple's Address Book. Find your favorite pizza parlor (in this example, I did a separate entry entitled "eHow example"). Go to the Address line of the vCard entry, and use "Control-Click" to see the attached screenshot. Select "Map of"

  2. Step 2

    This will launch Google Maps in your default browser with the address you have picked from Apple Computer's Address Book.

  3. Step 3
    get directions

    Click on "Get Directions" on that map's page to see direct directions from your friend's destination to the actual pizza parlor. Remember that you can use Google Maps in Text mode or Map mode. Print out a hard copy of the map for your friend to take along with him.
