With tight wedding budgets, centerpieces are often important, but not a top priority. The little extras really make a centerpiece pop. Below are inexpensive ideas to add the finishing touches to an unforgettable centerpiece!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Creativity
  • Open Mind
  • Time for trial and error
  1. Step 1

Use sand. Sand is not only for beach-themed weddings. Sand comes in black, white and varying colors. A clear square vase filled with black sand and a single white flower or candle makes a simple elegant statement at a minimal cost.

  2. Step 2

Consider non-traditional objects in the centerpiece base. As an alternative to marbles in a centerpiece base, incorporate citrus fruit, white or black stones, pebbles, shells, coffee beans, candy (wrapped or unwrapped), or anything else that is appropriate for your personality and wedding theme.

As inspiration, think of a low glass bowl with a cactus plant surrounded by white rocks or smooth black stones. This approach is economical, environmentally friendly, and zen chic. Your guests won't be able to stop talking about your creativity.

  3. Step 3

Add twigs. A few large curved twigs add height to a centerpiece with minimal cost. If you are artistically inclined, and have a place to spray paint or add glitter to the twigs, a little shimmer adds low-cost flair to the twigs.

  4. Step 4

Depending upon your wedding theme, consider incorporating feathers into your centerpiece. As an added bonus, feathers do not require a large storage area when purchased in advance.

  5. Step 5

Surround the centerpiece with a few votives. This is relatively simple and something done often. Candlelight never fails to create a romantic mood. Shop outlet sites for exquisite and inexpensive votives, or ask if your reception hall will provide them free of charge.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't mentally dismiss cactus until you do some research. There are many varieties of gorgeous cactus that are sure to impress you and your guests!
  • Consider herbs. Rosemary and lavender smell and look beautiful, and add a homey feel to any centerpiece.
