Ceramics are a beautiful piece of work but can be a little overwhelming for the first time painter. Here are a few tips for the beginning artist, or for somebody looking for a few tips.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

PICK YOUR PIECE: Make sire you pick something that will have a purpose, not just to sit around and gather dust. This way you will love your piece even more.

  2. Step 2

PLAN A DESIGN: Look through books, magazines, examples and ask others for opinions. Its best to go in with a plan.

  3. Step 3

TIME FOR COLORS: When picking colors, think of where the piece will be used most often. If it is going in a light green room, for example, try a darker green to compliment. When painting remember: Darks over lights (lights on darks will fade when firing in the kiln), and always paint 3 coats for the best colors possible and to prevent the brush strokes showing in the paint.
