Step 1
Gather information. The more information you have about your piece or set, the better off you're going to be. Search for original packaging, manufacturer's information, and for a pattern name or number (this can often be found on the back or bottom of each piece).
-
Step 2
Start Frequenting your local flea markets and antique shops - their inventory is constantly changing and it would be the most likely place for an old china piece to show up, especially if it's a more common pattern. Another great place? Estates sales, particularly if it was a large, older estate.

Step 3
Connect with Collectors. You may be surprised to find out how many people collect old china. Log online and search for your pattern name, number, or simply “china collectors.” Once you’ve found collectors (and rest assured, they’re out there), chances are they are willing to part with the piece you need for the right price.

Step 4
China Replacement Services. This is by far the most convenient and quickest way to replace your discontinued china piece. China replacement companies have thousands of pieces in stock from hundreds of different patterns and many have their inventory right online so you can search for what you need. Even better is many can identify a pattern by simply looking at picture, which is ideal if you have no information regarding the pattern. Send a clear picture (noting colors, if needed) of the pattern you are looking for and the will likely be able to give you a pattern name and number.
