on 9/15/2009 Excellent tips. I love to get and to give great customer service. It's not hard to make a little effort. If someone is having a bad day and works in customer service, it's not the customer's fault and the worker's grumpiness shouldn't ever be taken out on them!

on 8/28/2008 Great tips, good customer service is so rare these days. I believe it is because many employees have no idea what good customer service. For example when standing in a check out line how many times have you heard to cashiers talking to each other about how they cannot wait to get off work, as if the customer was not even there. How irritating it is for me. I have on occasion not returned to a place of business ever again because of poor customer service.
Good article, I feel that business owners and managers really need to look at good customer service as a top priority, you will either earn a customer for life or lose a customer for life based on customer service. Training is very important.
