Get Ideas for Writing eHow Articles

Writing for eHow is fun and profitable, but what happens when you run out of ideas for articles? Here are some suggestions for how to come up with more articles to write.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • eHow Account
  • Computer
  • Internet Connection
  • Time
  1. Step 1

Look back thru everything you have written on your blog or website and see if you can turn it into a how to article. If you have written any eBooks or articles for other sites, look at your work and see if any topics can be transformed into an eHow article.

  2. Step 2

Google phrases like, "How do I, How to, How do you" and see what pops up. You will get all sorts of ideas.

  3. Step 3

Google "eBooks." Look at what other people are writing about, and information that is selling on the internet. You will get ideas to write about that involve your own expertise.

  4. Step 4

Read blogs about subjects that you are knowledgeable about. You'll get ideas from the blog posts, and the comments from the visitors. To find blogs on a certain topic, go to technorati.com and search for your favorite subject.

  5. Step 5

Look thru help pages on websites. Help pages often outline the "how tos" for using the site. For example, "How to Get Thousands of Friends on Facebook, How to Add Backgrounds to MySpace Profiles, How to Use Twitter for Business."

  6. Step 6

Look on Yahoo Answers to see what questions people are asking. For example, if your specialty is computers, do a search on Yahoo Answers for the key word "computers" and look at the questions asked. You will be surprised at what others don't know but is second nature to you.

  7. Step 7

Watch your groups and forums for the same old questions over and over, and write an ehow about them. Better than that, join groups and forums that relate to your favorite subjects, and just lurk, watching for questions.

  8. Step 8

Look though your recipe file for your favorite recipes. These are easily turned into how to articles - "How to Make Southern Fried Chicken, How to Make a Killer Margarita, How to Make Homemade Ice Cream."

  9. Step 9

Keep a notebook handy to jot down ideas for articles. Some days ideas will come at you left and right, other days you get nothing. Having a log of ideas will give you a vault of topics to choose from at all times.

  10. Step 10

Listen to the podcast with eHow's top earning writer. See the resources section below.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't try to write too much at once. You will burn out. Shoot for 1-3 articles a day. Let your brain rest.
  • Never copy anything word for word from the internet or from someone else's article. Take the idea, massage it, add your own experiences and tips, and make it your own.
