Behave at a Rock Concert
Behave at a Rock Concert

Going to a rock concert soon? There are a few rules you'll need to know first.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Concert ticket
  • Knowledge of band playing
  • A mind full of lyrics
  1. Step 1

Despite popular belief, wearing the band's T-shirt to the show is acceptable. Some will say that it's against all rock policies, but why not support and show some love to the band that is playing?

What is unacceptable: Do not wear bootlegged band t-shirts. For example, a shirt that isn't very common that is a stock photograph of the band, will likely be a bootlegged shirt. A shirt bought off ebay for an extremely high price may also be a bootlegged shirt. STAY AWAY FROM THESE! They are tacky to the fans around you and immediately point out fan-wannabes.

  2. Step 2

Know info about the band. Don't be the person who is clueless about everything everyone is saying around you. Even if you are a guest, research the band you are seeing. After all, you are there for a reason, right?

  3. Step 3

Know some lyrics. Don't be the person who is only singing the hit songs. Not only is this annoying to the people sitting around you, it's also disrespectful to the band playing. Anyone can turn on a radio and hear and know that one specific song. Find a favorite song of theirs that isn't fanatically played.

  4. Step 4

Don't be the obnoxious drunk. Nobody likes these people at all.

  5. Step 5

Don't talk during the set!!!! You have 24 hours in a day. You don't need to talk about your minor life details during the 3 hours the band is playing. This is horribly disrespectful to the people around you.

  6. Step 6

Never steal seats. People spent a lot of money to get to the front and will likely frown upon you pushing into their space. This can not only cause a fight with you and the people sitting in front, but can also get you kicked out of the show. You don't want that, now do you?

  7. Step 7

No air guitar. Seriously, this happens too much and you'll become a joke. The only guitar playing there should be is on stage.

  8. Step 8

Make friends with the people around you. People going to concerts go not only for the music, but chance to meet fellow fans. Open up and be friendly! You may meet a new friend!

  9. Step 9

Perhaps the biggest and most important rule of all... DO NOT SIT DOWN! Sitting down at a rock concert is very disrespectful. Rock shows are for standing only. Dance, sing, and rock out.

Tips & Warnings
  • Becoming part of a fan club of the band you are seeing can get you huge points in the fanbase.
  • Know as many songs as possible
  • Don't sing obnoxiously or drunkenly. Nobody likes it.
  • Actually like the band you are going to see. Why would you go otherwise?
