Step 1
Exfoliate
Shaving is a temporary way to remove body hair. However, if done incorrectly shaving can have bad results. Hair removal lasts 2-3 days. If you want to shave really well, you should begin by exfoliating the area. Exfoliating can be done with either an exfoliating scrub. The scrub is applied to wet skin and rubbed on the skin. Another exfoliating option is to use an exfoliating mitt or brush. The skin and mitt should be damp. It is best to scrub in circles. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells. It creates a smoother surface for shaving and prevents in grown hair. -
Step 2
Warm Water Soak
Next, you want to make sure the skin is placed in or surrounded by warm water. The warm water helps to soften the skin in preparation for shaving. For hard to reach areas, you can place a warm towel over the area. -
Step 3
Prep. Creams
Follow the warm water by using hair conditioner or shaving cream depending on hair thickness. For thick hair, I would suggest just using conditioner. The conditioner will soften the skin and hair and it is not as thick as the shaving cream. Your skin and hair will feel soft and moist. For thinner finer hair, I would use a moisturizing shaving cream that includes something to prevent hair growth. The shaving creams with substances that decrease hair growth really work with repeated use. -
Step 4
Shave
Shave in the direction of hair growth. I know what your mother told you, but shave the other way. It prevents hair bumps. -
Step 5
Moisturize
Finally, follow up the shave with a couple drops of a light body oil on the still damp skin. Don't worry your body will not feel greasy. Keep the area clean and moisturized. Lotions which promise a decrease in hair growth really work. Use them consistently and you will shave less. -
Step 6
So, with these easy steps you can be much better shaving results. Your skin will be smoother and your shaves will last longer. Shaving is quick, convenient, and easy when done correctly.
